Manchester United has interviewed Rio Ferdinand for their technical director vacancy.

Ferdinand played with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for five years and there is a mutual respect between the two.

Ferdinand works for BT as a football pundit and lives with his family in the south of England. 

Nicolas Otamendi and Danilo could leave Manchester City this summer in search of more consistent playing time.

Otamendi signed a contract extension in January, but has started less than half of City's matches.

Aymeric Laporte is a regular starter, captain Vincent Kompany has been drafted in for big games when fit and John Stones is seen as the club's long-term choice.

Matthijs de Ligt of Ajax could also be signed this summer.

Milan confirmed that Gennaro Gattuso will remain as manager through the rest of this season despite their recent struggles.

Gattuso met with executives Leonardo, Ivan Gazidis and Paolo Maldini amid a slide involving 1 win in their last 5 matches, with the club dropping out of a Champions League position. 

Eusebio Di Francesco is rumored to take over as manager next season. 

Frank Lampard would not be scared off from taking the managerial job with Chelsea despite their expected transfer ban.

Lampard has been linked to the Chelsea job if Maurizio Sarri is fired.

Lampard is currently manager of Derby in the Championship.

Real Madrid have reportedly rejected multiple bids of €180 million for Marco Asensio.

Asensio has had a disappointing 18-19 season, which has led to speculation he could leave Real Madrid.

Liverpool and Juventus have been reportedly interested in Asensio.

"Over the last year there have been offers as high as €150m and €180m, but Madrid did not want to listen to them," Horacio Gaggioli told ESPN FC. "There is always interest in Marco from other big clubs, seeing if he wanted to leave, which is normal for the player he is.

"But he always says that he is very happy with Madrid, is only interested in being a success there. He is still a young kid, improving all the time, and the club is very happy with him too."

Zinedine Zidane won't rule out the possibility Real Madrid will sell Gareth Bale this summer.

Zidane was asked if Bale may need to leave for Eden Hazard to arrive.

"No. But we are 25 players, so if you buy players, some might leave.

"That is normal in a squad. There will be changes, but that happens in all teams."

Bale has long been a target for frustrated fans of Real Madrid.

Reports suggest Real Madrid's hierarchy is concerned Bale could refuse to leave and block a potential move for Hazard or Paul Pogba.

Bale's agent, Jonathan Barnett, this week told ESPN FC that "nothing has changed," with the player under contract until 2022.

Manchester City is considering a bid for Florentino Luis of Benfica.

Luis has a release clause of €60 million, which Benfica hopes to raise to over €100 million with a new contract.

City have had scouts watching the 19-year-old and see him as a possible long-term replacement for Fernandinho.

Paris Saint-Germain had a bid for Luis rejected.

New York Red Bull sporting director Denis Hamlett shot down rumors of Thierry Henry taking over as manager.

"Recent reports of Thierry Henry joining the New York Red Bulls are false," he said in a statement.

The NYRB have lost 4 out of their first 7 matches to start the season. 

Manchester United could have a mass exodus if they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

United is currently sixth in the Premier League on 64 points and they no longer control their own destiny.

David de Gea, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku will all consider their futures if United is out of the Champions League.

United received a bid from Barcelona for Pogba when he and Jose Mourinho were at odds.

De Gea has yet to agree to a new contract and that prospect looks remote.

Mauro Icardi will remain at Inter next season despite recent contract disputes, said agent and wife Wanda Icardi.

“We’ll still be here next season. Mauro keeps scoring because he’s the cornerstone of the family. Now he’s calmer. He embraces everyone because he’s always had a beautiful relationship with everyone," said Icardi.

She also discussed her legal action against Mauro's sister.

“I’m not a witch. We’ve always helped his family. Ivana came to my house a couple of months ago and we opened the doors to her and her boyfriend, who is also a footballer. Mauro is a great man. I fell in love with the person, not the character. She’s been speaking ill of her brother. You can’t put a price on that. She’s learnt how to become a character.”
